ARTISTS RESEARCH - "Education on arts"

The next assignment consists of research made from four educational proposals. Which all of them according to my point of view have lots of benefits for children’s development.

1 - CREATIVITY

This first proposal is done to work on creativity. In this case, these are related to education in nature, and to education in art. From the webpage "The house of imagination" I found out two project, here I attach the slogan of the first one, and a brief review of the second one.

5x5x5=creativity is an independent arts-based action research organization that supports children in their exploration and expression of ideas, helping them develop creative skills for life. It is located in Bath, UK.

I do think this research empowers arts as a great subject matter to develop and integrate into children's lives, thus to be able to get to know themselves better and later on, be successful, efficient human beings, as they have got the opportunity to work on themselves before working for anyone else. 

The project not just enhances arts, but also the option of learning outdoors, taking into account nature and open spaces also help the learning process of children, as they are not limited in the space, and all that is provided by it.

2 - ART as a research for PERSONAL LANGUAGE

Throughout her 70 year career Louise Bourgeois made art as a catharsis, expressing her most intimate fears and anxieties. She says “An artist can show things that other people are terrified of expressing.” Her practice encompassed almost any material she could get her hands on, including sculpture, printmaking, drawing and hand-stitching, invested with a gritty, hand-made quality that connects with the human need for touch and intimacy.

 

I think with this proposals kids can see how art can help out to heal what sometimes we cannot even express, what we cannot even see at first. This artist may be a referent as well for those who have felt betrayed or lost, also it is the perfect tool to get to know how our mind has been configured by all the past stories and how art can just take care of it gently.

3 - AUDIOVISUALS

4 Reasons Pipilotti Rist is a Trailblazer is the article I read. Here I attach one of the reasons. From what I could see in the interview Rist is all about seeing the world with eyes closed. I think with this artist you can work on the inner self, what spirituality is, what the body is and all the opportunities that can bring us everyday, to disconnect from all society's norm and just connect with what really resonates with us.

 

4 - RESIDENT ART STUDIOS in schools

ROOM 13, UK

With this proposal you are giving the students to work on their own autonomy, to trust themlseves and be independent just playing with what we usually forget when we are adults, the curiosity of trying without a purpose. 

In this project we are giving kids more than just an artistical opportunity but an space to be themselves in community, gaining every day more aptituted to interact with the world and the others necessities. Then lots of values can be worked, such as respect, consideration, organization...
